Our Hon. Bakary Y Badjie, today visited young people at National Youth Council - The Gambia 2nd National Youth Retreat and Dialogue on Electoral Reform at Football Hotel in Yundum.
During his visit the minister spoke to the participants (Youth Leaders) and reminded them of their importance to national development and maintenance of peace in the country.
Minister, Badjie highlighted the key role that young people can play in the democratic process of the country. He said young people are the drivers of change and their role in the maintenance of peace and stability of the country cannot be overemphasised.
He challenged youth leaders to talk to their fellow young people to fully participate in the coming electoral cycle of the country. He said: "Young people play an important role in the electoral process, not only voting but also participate in party politics. As youth leaders please let's encourage our youth to register and as well vote during the coming elections."
"The development of this country is our collective responsibility and our role as young people is key."
