The Gambia Songhai Initiative (GSI) a project under Ministry of Youth and Sports is today graduating 38 students. The Project is designed to tackle the growing youth unemployment and increasing poverty among rural populations of The Gambia.
It is also developed to transform the agricultural sector into a productive, efficient, sustainable and remunerative enterprise, especially among youth.
The project which is supported by UNDP in collaboration with the songhai regional center in Benin. The primary objective is to promote inclusive agriculture sector growth and employment.

The graduates are trained in different areas of organic agricultural production. Some students were trained in crop production in areas of market garden, cash crop and agro-forestry while some graduates were trained in animal production activities.
