Coconut Organization, a sister Organization of International Youth fellowship, an NGO based in the Gambia has on Tuesday donated 77 handwashing buckets to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS). The presentation was held at the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS) office in Bakau.
The ceremony was graced by the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports and witnessed by all the Directors of the satellite institutions under MOYS.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Hadrammeh Sidibeh Minister of Youth and Sports expressed delight over the gesture and thanked the donors through their sister organization.
He reminded the guests that International youth Fellowship has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MOYS with a view to established a co-operative relationship between MOYS and the International Youth Fellowship.
The Youth and Sports Minister asserted that the donation is timely and assured the donors that the donated items will be put into good use as it will help eradicate the global pandemic coronavirus( COVID 19) through improving personal Hygiene.
He urged the directors of the line entities to utilize the donated items through their various institutions to ease the workload of his Ministry.
For his part, Mr work in Oe coordinator of Coconut Organization in the Gambia said his organization was established last year in the Gambia but was established in South Korea since 2016.
He revealed that their mission is to support West Africa in the area of Education, Sports and Youth in knowledge and global sharing of issues related to youth development and empowerment.
He equally assured the ministry of their continued support.
Mr. Emmanuel Mendy, the Executive Director of NYSS expressed similar sentiments with the Youth and Sports Minister.
He thanked the donors for their intervention saying it came at a time when the ministry needs it.
Since its inception in 2001, International youth Fellowship has guided hundreds of thousand youths to escape despair and difficulties to become selfless leaders in national development
The fellowship is active in over 100 countries with more than 500, 000 members worldwide.
