HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT ADAMA BARROW PRESENTED CHEQUES WORTH 14.1 MILLION DALASIS TO THE GAMBIA SENIOR NATIONAL TEAM, U20 SCORPIONS AND GAMBIA’S U19 VOLLEYBALL TEAM.

President Barrow Presents GMD14.1 million dalasis to National Football and Volleyball Teams. His Excellency President Adama Barrow, on Monday presented cheques worth 14.1 million dalasis to the Gambia Senior National team, U20 Scorpions and Gambia’s U19 Volleyball teams.

The presentation was made on Monday afternoon at the State House in Banjul as a reward to the team's for the successes registered at the continental competitions in recent pass. 

The players along with their coaches, technical teams, Presidents and officials of the Gambia Football Federation and Gambia Volleyball Association were accompanied to the State House by the Minister of Youth and Sports, his staff as well as the National Sports Council staff.

President Barrow presented a cheque of 11.1 million Dalasis to the Senior National team, 2.5 million Dalasi to the U20 Scorpions and 500,000 dalasis to the Gambia Under 19 Volleyball teams.

In his remarks, Honorable Bakary Y. Badjie, the Minister of Youth and Sports expressed heartfelt gratitude to the president of the Republic for accepting to grant the audience. He acknowledged that despite previous expenses in sports, the current government's investment is greater and thus paying dividend, and thus deserve commendation.

"You never get result if you don't invest in Sports and the Government of the Gambia recognizes that, that is why we are putting in extra efforts and money to see that our teams get if not all, but most of the needed things".

He assures the teams that the Government is committed to the development of Sports and empowering the youth of the country. "We are not only going to focus on one sport, but all sporting disciplines".

Minister Badjie said all sporting activities are important and can generate huge income like any other profession.

Hon. Hamat Bah, Minister of Tourism and Culture reiterated the government readiness to invest in the development of sports and President's special interest in ensuring adequate resources are gathered for the AFCON next year.

The President of the GFF Lamin Kabba Bajo and 1st Vice President of Gambia Volleyball Association, Lamin Jammeh spoke at the event .
