In the speech, the President announced his personal pledge of D500,000.00 dalasis as contribution towards AFCON 2021.
He called on all Ministers, National Assembly Members, Directors, vendors and private companies and individuals to also pledge and support the fundraising drive for the road to AFCON 2021.
Speaking earlier, Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Bakary Y. Badjie, expressed his appreciation to the members for accepting to serve in this voluntary role - calling it a national service.
Hon. Badjie informed the gathering that the 117 million dalasis the NCC is tasked to raise constitute about 75% of the cost estimated to be spend in preparation and tournament participation in Cameroon.
He took the opportunity to remind the people of the huge benefits sports can bring to socioeconomic development of people and country.
Presidents of GFF, Lamin Kabba Bajo informed the members of the efforts that has been done so far in preparation. He however, reminded attendees that sports, especially football is an expensive game and Gambia to do well, enough resources is needed to properly prepare the team.
Other speakers at the event were Fatou Ceesay, who represented the President of the Gambia Chambers of Commerce and Musa Sise President of Sport Journalist Association Gambia.
