The Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Mr Bakary Y. Badjie earlier today, paid a visit to the Gambian delegations in their various hotels in Limbe.
Accompanied by members of the National Coordinating Committee NCC, DPS Musa Mbye, Marchel Mendy-ED, National Sports Council, Mr Lamin Kabba Bajo-GFF President, Mr Lamin Jassey General Secretary of GFF and chairman National Sports council Mr Lamin S Jawara and Mr Musa Sise, Africell Corporation Affairs Director who doubles as a member of the NCC.
Honourable Badjie expressed gratitude to the delegations for their efforts and support towards the AFCON.
"Sports especially football is a unifier and in The Gambia, as we speak the AFCON qualifications, back home everybody is happy and talking about the efforts been put into the tournament, even though I have missed the first game I am happy to witness the second game in Cameroon which is a critical game for us".
Gambia's qualifications to the Africa Cup of Nation is a dream come true for all Gambians both home and away including fallen legends who have answered to the call of the creator. According to him, they did the foundation on which we are celebrating today.
Deputy Permanent Secretary, Musa Mbye who is also the chairman of the logistics committee thanked the delegations for their hard work and mutual understanding and ask that team spirit be maintained among them. He also highlighted the achievements registered so far and encourages the team to redouble their efforts for more.
Mr Lamin Kaba Bajo president of Gambia Football Federation thanked the delegations for their patience and dedication in supporting the Scorpions teams and The Gambia as a whole.
Mr Ebrima Secka Senior Program Manager at the NSC briefed the Minister on the affairs and welfare of the delegations at the Holiday Inn Resort in Limbe and thanked the government of the Gambia for the support.
Alhagie Cherno Barra Touray, Former Chairman of the National Sports Council who also witness the struggles of Gambian legends in sports requested a( 3) three-minute silence prayers in honour of the late Honsainou Njai, OB conateh, and Omar Sey. He gave a summary of their contribution and struggle for the Gambia to reach AFCON.
Also speaking was Mr. Sadibou Kamaso, Vice Chairman of the NCC logistics committee and Mr. Omar Eliman Janneh who spoke at length on the positive and the ongoing preparations ahead of the next match and the reiterated support Gambians residing in Cameroon have been rendering to them since their arrival in Cameroon respectively.
