Bakary Y. Badjie,
Minister of Youth & Sports,
Republic of the Gambia,
Bakary Y. Badjie is the current Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of The Gambia. Prior to his appointment as State Minister, Hon. Badjie served in different capacities in civil society organizations in The Gambia. Between 2004 and 2016, he was a Program Officer of the NGO Child Protection Alliance, served voluntarily as a member of the Gambia National Youth Council for four years and was one termed nominated Councilor (Council Member) for the most populated municipality of the Gambia.
Bakary is well known in the youth work, civil society and other human rights organizations in The Gambia, and African continent as well as in Local Government Administration across the country as a both a programmer and trainer. While living and studying in the United States from 2016 to 2020, Hon. Badjie worked for the State of Ohio as Youth Specialist and EHS Engineer for a construction company.
Hon. Balkary Badjie, holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Gateway College in USA, and a higher Diploma in Youth and Development Work from the University of Ghana. He holds certificates as an Occupational Health and Safety Professional in the United States, and several other certificates from University of Connecticut and Antwerp in Belgium.
