The Gambian Delegation led by Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bulli Dibba, is currently at YouthConnekt Sahel Forum’26 in Niger, Niamey to join other countries from 10 to 12 August to connect, innovate and invest in Sahelian youth.The theme for the this year’s event is “Sahelian Youth: Refoundation, Security and Prosperity for a Sovereign, United and Resilient Sahel.” The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of The Gambia, representing the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, participated in the YouthConnekt Sahel Forum Steering Committee Meeting held on 10 August 2026 in Niger, Niamey. The meeting brought together Youth ministers and key stakeholders to advance discussions on the institutionalization, sustainability and governance of the YouthConnekt Sahel Forum, which was established as the first regional platform of YouthConnekt Africa. Among the key issues discussed was the institutionalization process of the YouthConnekt Sahel Forum, including the validation of its Charter, governance pillars and procedures for hosting future editions of the Forum. The Committee also discussed mechanisms for monitoring and follow up on commitments and recommendations emerging from previous editions, particularly in continuity with the N’Djamena Declaration. The discussions further focused on ensuring that YouthConnekt Sahel evolves into a sustainable, legitimate and effective regional platform for economic, social and civic transformation, capable of strengthening regional cooperation and ensuring that the priorities of young people across the Sahel are reflected in continental youth policy processes. As YouthConnekt Sahel enters a new phase of institutionalization, The Gambia remains committed to strengthening youth leadership, regional solidarity and meaningful youth participation in shaping the future of the Sahel. #YouthConnektSehalForum’26#Niamey

Chargé D’Afrraires of the Kingdom of Morocco in The Gambia Bids Farewell to the Ministry of Youth and Sports

The Ministry of Youth and Sports on Friday, 7 August, received His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Belhaj, Chargé d’Affaires of the Kingdom of Morocco in The Gambia, for a farewell visit at the Ministry’s office in Banjul. Morocco and The Gambia have enjoyed a longstanding partnership, with cooperation extending to key areas including sports and education, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, capacity building and stronger people-to-people relations. Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie, expressed appreciation to His Excellency for his engagement and contribution to strengthening the relationship between the two states. The Minister wished Mr. Belhaj every success in his future endeavours, while expressing confidence that the strong ties between the two countries will continue to grow.
