Mr. Sheikh Tijan Secka, Gambia Carpenter who double as President of the Gambia’s Federation of Carpenters Association earlier today donated a podium to the Ministry of Youth and Sports at a presentation ceremony held at the Ministry in Banjul.
On receiving the podium, Ms. Ndey Marie Njie , Permanent Sectretary at the Ministry thanked Mr. Secka for the donation.
She praised the donor, describing him as a Gambian who is energetic and doing a brilliant job for important sectors like the Youth and Sports.
The intervention, she added, has been very timely. She encouraged the donor to keep up the good job, noting that the donation is not only for Ministry alone but it entire satellite institutions .
Speaking earlier , Sheikh Tijan Secka, the donor said he is doing this in recognition of the Ministry efforts to deliver excellence in youth and sports development by ensuring that youth are guided towards entrepreneurship, employability, leadership and encouraged mass participation in sports for wellbeing in accordance with it strategic policy objectives.
In his remarks, Honourable Bakary Y. Badjie applauded the donor for the initiative he said the donated podium will go a long way to serve it purpose adding that the Ministry needs it.
He urged young people to emulate Mr Secka in order gain his knowledge for skills acquisition.
Hon. Badjie assured the donor of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate as some of its institutions are involved in training young people into carpentering namely PIA, NYSS and GSI for the sustainable development of young people.
