The Action Aid International the Gambia (AAITG) in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Sports (DoYS), Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) has conducted the distribution and installation of equipment earmarked for the establishment and operationalization of the database; to be administered and controlled under the auspices of the DoYS. The database will be established and hosted by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy (MoCDE); and while the implementation aspect will be in the purview of the Department of Youth and Sports (DoYS), Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS). The equipment procured includes – 7 internet routers; 7 laptops with bags; and 7 Printers, under the auspices of the “Empowering marginalized youth inclusion in civic space and local infrastructures for peace” project of which the DoYS is a partner as the only and main government institutions.
The distribution and installation of equipment was done in 5 Regions of the Country where the project intervention will be effected, namely Upper River Region (URR), Central River Region (CRR), Lower River Region (LRR), North Bank Region (NBR) and West Coast Region (WCR). The DoYS Regional Offices are provided with these equipment to enhance the institutional capacity building support through the development and operationalization of a data base, to track and monitor the inclusion and participation of youth in the local governance structures and civic space, as well as youths venturing in Entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, apprenticeship trainings amongst others.
