On Independence Day (18th February, 2024), MacCarty Square in Banjul will erupt with a wild atmosphere as Alagie Morr Jobe alias Ala promotion will stage a grand wrestling combat named after H.E President Adama Barrow.
In a build-up to the grand wrestling combat, President Barrow assigned Sports Minister Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie, to, on his behalf, receive the Flag from the Promoter, symbolizing his acceptance of the day dedicated to him.
At a ceremony held on Wednesday, Hon. Badjie thanked the organiser for naming the flag after the President, stating that it's a great feeling and President Barrow appreciates the consideration from Ala Promotion and the Gambia Wrestling Association, saying "You know wrestling is our tradition and we need to promote it to the highest level".
Hon. Badjie said that apart from football, wrestling is the most watched sport in the country.
Alagie Morr Jobe alias as Ala Promotion applauded His excellency for accepting the honor to be named after a flag.
He used the opportunity to call on more support .
At the presentation, it was announced that the entrance fee of the grand combat would be free.
