Honourable Bakary Y. Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports this evening disclosed that the Government of the Gambia under the leadership of H.E president Adama Barrow has contributed (D171,000,000.00) One hundred and Seventy-One million Dalasis toward AFCON participation in Ivory Coast.
He said the government has already paid 150 million through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs.
Omar Colley Team Captain on behalf of the players thanks the government through the MoYS and all the stakeholders who in one way or the other contributed towards the success of the country's second appearance in AFCON.
"On behalf of the National team we want to thank the Government for the support even though sometimes our demands are high, we are doing that in the interest of the Gambia," Colley lamented.
At the ceremony, the battle flag was handed over to the Team Captain by the Vice president of the Republic Mr Mohamed BS. Jallow.
