This morning, the Ministry's tour delegation proceeded to Diabugu in the Sandu District, Upper River Region, to hand over the constructed football field (mini stadium) to the sports committee of the district. This came as a result of the completion of the current phase of the project.
Addressing the beneficiary at the field grounds, Youth and Sports Minister Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie, who led a delegation, comprising officials from the ministry and the National Assembly Select Committee chairman on youth and sport. acknowledged the community's patience and support over the long period caused by the delay of the contractor. He underscores the importance of such projects to community and regional sports development. Hon. Badjie added that the Ministry is always committed to youth empowerment and developing more sports infrastructure, especially in provincial Gambia.
Hon. Ebrima Jaiteh, National Assembly Member for Sandu District, thanked the Government of The Gambia through the ministry for initiating this project. He said they are hoping to benefit from more project in the future.
He assured that his people are committed to maintaining and managing the facilities.
Ebrima Darboe and Ebrima D Bah chairman and secretary General of the Sandu batafa sports committee, respectively, thanked the ministry for their efforts and called on for more support to do the remaining work including pavilion and athletics track.
