The Minister Bakary Y. Badjie emphasized the importance of involving young people in decision-making processes, stating, “As a Government and Ministry, we continue to believe in that slogan that ‘anything for the Youth, without the Youth, is not for the Youth’. He made this remark at the National Youth Consultation Summit of the future.
Minister Badjie highlighted that the Summit of the Future is not merely about the future of the United Nations or global economies but also about the future of the world's youth.
He stressed that The Gambia could not afford to overlook the voices of its young people, as they are the ones who will inherit and shape the future. Quoting the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, he reminded the audience, “We can’t build a future for our grandchildren with a system built for our grandparents.” This statement underscored the need for a future that aligns with the aspirations and desires of the youth.
