The Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Bakary Y. Badjie Monday handed over the National Flag to the Gambia Wrestling Team in a brief ceremony held in his office in Banjul.
Hon. Badjie urges the delegation to be law abiding and be good Ambassadors of the country while away.
He implored on them to go there to compete and not to add numbers.
For her part, Ms Ndey Marie Njie Permanent Secretary and Musa Mbye Deputy Permanent Secretary Technical all echoed similar sentiments.
The team was accompanied at the Ministry by Executive Director of The Gambia National Sports Council - NSC Mr. Marchel Mendy, Desk Officer for Wrestling Abdoulie Bojang, GWA's First Second Vice President Ousman Njie, Secretary General Ebrima Suwareh, PRO Serign Mass Jobe, Coach Nyang Senghore, Medic Jawara Ngum and the five wrestlers.
The Gambian team is expected to leave the Banjul International Airport tomorrow Tuesday 13th March, 2023, at 6:50am en route to Niamey via Lome.
The ECOWAS African Wrestling Championship is slated for 17-19 March 2023, in Niamey, Niger.
