Hon. Bakary Y Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports presided over the orientation of Graduates for the Maiden National Youth Service Graduate Programme (NYSGP).
The program is supported by the government of the Gambia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSS), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the University of The Gambia (UTG).
As a pilot program, 100 young graduates were identified through an application process to benefit from the program.
The program is meant to inculcate discipline, hard work, and total loyalty to the Gambia by the National Youth Service Members. But also to create employment opportunities for the young graduates.
