Yesterday, I received in office Mr. Francis Chuks Njoaguani, the Director of the ECOWAS Youth and Sport Development.
Mr. Francis is in the country as a guest of the Ministry of Youth & Sports and Gambia Wrestling Association for a four day visit to assess facilities and determine The Gambia’s ability to host the 2026 ECOWAS Wrestling Championship, which the Gambia bidded to host.
During the meeting, I assured him of The Gambia's preparedness to host, for the first time, such an important regional championship, further demonstrating the country's love for wrestling.
While in the country, the Director and delegation visited the MacCarty Square, Serrekunda East and West Mini stadiums, a selection of hotels, medical facilities and held meetings with security leaders, all of which are part of his assessment.
