Bridging the Youth Data Gap in The Gambia!

As part of the UNPBF-funded Youth Participation and Inclusion (YPI) Project, ActionAid International The Gambia is supporting the development of a centralized database system for the Ministry of Youth & Sports. The system designed to be hosted by the Department of Youth and Sports will allow satellite institutions to input and access data on youth activities, helping address long-standing data gaps within the ministry.

Today, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy presented the first draft demo of the database system for review and feedback marking a significant step forward in building a robust youth data infrastructure.

The Minister of Youth & Sports, Hon. Bakary Y. Badjie, attended the event and commended Actionaid Gambia for this transformative initiative, noting its importance in guiding the ministry’s strategic planning and response to youth issues.

Representing ActionAid were Mr. Fafa O. Cham, Head of Programmes and Policy, and Ms. Tabou Correa, YPI Project Manager. Both highlighted the vital role of quality data in shaping inclusive and sustainable national development.
