The ongoing transformation of The Gambia’s Independence Stadium and its surrounding has taken another important step as key stakeholders met with officials of Gamworks, the consulting firm overseeing the technical phase of the OIC Project.
The meeting, held on Thursday, brought together members of the Technical Working Group responsible for ensuring that the renovation of the Independence Stadium meets the required CAF standards.
The consultancy firm present sketch plan on how the work will look like if completed and discuss on the process on the extension of the Bertil Harding Highway to be constructed by AREZKI Group, an international firm leading the project under the OIC Road Network Phase 3.
Present at the session were members of the Stadium Technical Committee members including senior officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council, the Ministry of Works, GFF and Stadium Management.
The meeting focused on processes and progress updates, technical assessments, and coordination between the road construction and the stadium renovation timelines. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a work that not only meets CAF/FIFA standard but also serves as a national pride and a symbol of Gambia’s readiness to host major sporting events.
